Gov't Mule
O'Shaughnessy Theatre
St. Paul, MN
10.31.07
The second set and encore was remixed by Warren Haynes and sound man Bruce "Slim" Judd.
The Gov't Mule Halloween Spectacular got underway with a moody Play With Fire and a hot Time To Confess. A Million Miles From Yesterday got the crowd singing along and the Rocking Horse that followed kept'em dancing. After a dark Larger Than Life, Fallen Down beautifully wound it's way into The Other One Jam. Danny, the guitar tech for Grace Potter was dressed as Farmer for Halloween and made the onstage guitar switch with Warren before the set ending Blind Man In The Dark.
The second set of the night was a first for the band, crew and fans alike. The band, with the assistance of Audley Freed, played from cover to cover Led Zeppelin's Houses Of The Holy. From the opening track The Song Remains The Same to the album ending The Ocean, Gov't Mule put their signature stamp on this rock'n'roll classic album. With Audley onstage the whole set, the guitars were fat and crunchy, the bass driving, the keys rockin' and the drums thundering. At the end of the Zeppelin set, the crowds roaring cheers were deafening and brought the band and Audley back to deliver an encore worthy of the previous set. Come On Into My Kitchen segued into 32/20 Blues which teased Come On Into My Kitchen to end an unbelievable Halloween night.

Gov't Mule
Merrill Auditorium
Portland, ME
09.11.07
The first note of the show foretold of a great night. Rockin' In The Free World was first up followed by Larger Than Life with Paint It Black Tease in the middle. Nothing Again made a stellar appearance as did Painted Silver Light. Beautifully Broken, oft paired with a Prince tune, featured another Rolling Stones' Jam, this time You Can't Always Get What You Want, sandwiched within. The obvious highlight of the set, perhaps the show, was the debut of Birdland which was bookended by Thorazine Shuffle to close the set.
Set Two got underway as Bad Little Doggie and Perfect Shelter led off. Brighter Days made a glowing appearance before Drums and another first, It's My Own Fault, made its debut after Drums. Unring The Bell boogied into a kickin' Mule to end the set. Dedicated to the memory of Hughie Thomasson, a heartfelt telling of I Shall Be Released was proffered as the night's encore.

Gov't Mule
Central Park Summer Stage
New York, NY
09.06.07
The Mule's return to New York was celebrated in New York City's famed Central Park and got underway with a rousing John The Revelator and a stompin' Slackjaw Jezebel followed by Banks Of The Deep End. Machan and friend, Elaine Caswell, joined in the excitement onstage to lend their vocal stylings to A Million Miles From Yesterday. Farmer then lent his talents to Don't Step On The Grass Sam. Mid-set saw the pairing of Brighter Days and Like Flies soar into Drums. Mr. High & Mighty rocked into Brand New Angel. and Machan and Elaine Caswell returned to the stage for Unring The Bell, but then left the four to close the set with Blind Man In The Dark. It wouldn't be a NYC show without our good friend, Jimmy Vivino, who came to play in the park; and play he did... Joining in on 32/20 Blues, then dueling with Warren through Come On Into My Kitchen and Gonna Send You Back To Georgia, these three encore tunes sent everyone home from their playdate in the park with The Mule very happy indeed.

Gov't Mule
Bank Of America Pavillion
Boston, MA
09.07.07
The Bank Of America Pavillion saw the first two-set Mule show since Europe. Stretching back across Japan, Korea, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Belgium and over 20 time zones to London's Mean Fiddler. Streamline Woman was first out of the gate and was followed by a raucous Mother Earth and a galloping Rocking Horse. Thorazine Shuffle made a mid-set appearance, as did Reggae Soulshine; but the blue ribbon winner of the set would have to be the set-closing Southern Man with Grace Potter.
Set two started off with Warren 12-stringing his way through So Weak, So Strong, then a bouncy Unring The Bell. About To Rage and Mule led into Drums and the post Drums segment started off blazing with the Hunger Strike/ Dear Mr. Fantasy medley. Andy kicked up That's What Love Will Make You Do and Bang A Gong was teased during the set closing Goin' Out West. For the encore of the evening, the selection of Child Of The Earth -> It Hurts Me Too was a well played end to a wonderful evening.

Gov't Mule
Harvest Blues Fest
Fredericton, NB
09.13.07
After a solo set by Warren that ended not long before, Gov't Mule took the stage for a one set wonder that rocked from the get-go with Bad Little Doggie and Bad Man Walking. Batting cleanup in the set, About To Rage is the stuff that legends are made of as was the one-two punch of She Said, She Said-> Tomorrow Never Knows. Raining Pain Down In New Orleans was transcendent in it's own right, but Danny's trumpet work rocketed this tune into the stratosphere. The groove of Empty Pages was equal to the brilliance of the Rocking Horse that followed.
The set drew to a close with Unring The Bell and Blind Man In The Dark, but the two song encore of Endless Parade and Soulshine capped off a Muletastic evening not soon to be forgotten.

Warren Haynes
Harvest Blues Fest
Fredericton, NB
09.13.07
Those in attendance at The Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival fortunate enough to have caught Warren's solo set were a lucky group, to say the least. The set began with Before You Came and was followed by an overwhelming Patchwork Quilt. Warren then proceeded to explain the origin of both Fallen Down and Glory Road with the respective song following each anecdote. The rarely seen and highly lauded Ballerina made an appearance after Beautifully Broken and prior to Broken Promised Land which was delivered via an electric guitar. Towards the end of this stellar set, an unequalled performance of Affair On 8th Avenue was proffered with Real Thing and One in tow to close out the set. At the crowd's insistence, an encore was in order, so Old Friend then Hallelujah were the two chosen with which to send the sated crowd out, only to return for the impending Mule set that was just hours away.

Packed like sardines into an intimate club in Montral, Canada the crowd was greeted by the thunderous pairing of "Brand New Angel" and "Mr. High & Mighty", which was followed immediately by "Lay Your Burden Down>Smokestack Lightning." That may have been all some could take, but the first set roared on with a "Lively Up Yourself', a "Lola Leave Your Light On" and a "Livin' Lovin' Maid" before concluding with the Deja Voodoo classic, "Mr.
Man." Not to be overlooked the second set kicked off with "Like Flies"
before heading through the Mule Cover Classic "I'm A Ram." It wouldn't be a trip to Canada without the Mule playing "The Other One Jam" and the night closed out with the perfect encore of "So Weak, So Strong." Montreal may have waited seven years for the return of the Mule, but it was worth the wait.

Gov't Mule
Memorial Auditorium
Burlington, VT

The last night of the Million Miles tour began with Reggae Soulshine and a ripping Thorazine Shuffle. Not seen since spring tour, Tom Petty's Breakdown made a welcome showing prior to Three String George. Momentous and towering barely sums up the Gameface-> Mountain Jam-> Gameface that led into a blistering 32/20 Blues that ended the set.
Unring The Bell, teasing Get Up Stand Up, was the leadoff tune in the second set and was followed by a funky Slackjaw Jezebel. The next two songs performed, Loser and After Midnight featured the musical stylings of friend and Vermont resident, Mike Gordon. Andy resumed bass playing responsibilities for a scorching Streamline Woman that led into Drums. With a wide grooved jam at the head, The Shape I'm In came out of Drums and segued into Brighter Days which shone brightly until the Blind Man In The Dark rocked the set to close. The encore of the night and the tour was a beautiful telling of Out Of The Rain that left all with a wide smile.

The first night of the Mighty High tour got underway with Warren's a cappella performance of Grinnin' In Your Face with Bad Little Doggie snapping at its heels. Brand New Angel and Perfect shelter grooved and boogied through the middle of the set and Reggae Soulshine led off a series of knockdown tunes. Rocking Horse, Birth Of The Mule and Million Miles From Yesterday rolled into a raging Time To Confess to close out the set.
Set two eased in with Play With Fire and then ratcheted up the gears for Slackjaw Jezebel. In this evening of experimental Mulesic the intro to Johnny Brattton Jam and the premiere of Reblow Your Mind definitely stand out. Devil Likes It Slow ran right up to Mule to end the second set, while It Hurts Me Too was chosen to end the night's festivities.

The first night on American soil of the Mighty High Tour bore witness to a stellar show. Streamline Woman lit the fire of a show that would blaze through right to the last smoldering ember. After a great About To Rage, Feel Like Breaking Up Somebody's Home made it's inaugural showing to a welcoming crowd and the duo of No Need To Suffer and Temporary Saint were stunning to behold. Two more first-timers in the Mule repertoire closed out the set with the help of Grace Potter and her guitarist Scott Tourneau for a CSNY pairing of Find The Cost Of
Freedom-> Ohio.
Out Of The Rain drew the crowd back in and Gameface-> Mountain Jam-> Gameface held them in rapt attention. Like Flies drove hard into
Drums but oozed into a sticky sweet Slow Happy Boys. With Unring The Bell getting the feet moving again, Blind Man In The Dark came in and shut down the show, leaving 32/20 Blues to hold the encore slot and bid the crowd farewell.

Post-Drums witnessed a mindblowing run of Trane with a tease of Third Stone From The Sun that flowed into Doin' It To Death and then slithered into Wang Dang Doodle.
